The CSU Advice Team understands that many students may experience financial hardship, student finance concerns, or issues relating to tuition fees, and we are very sympathetic to these challenges.
However, we are unable to provide advice on these financial matters (including tuition fee queries). This is because specialist support is already provided by the University of Chester’s Money Advice Team and Tuition Fees Department.
Money Advice Team
The Money Advice Team are expert financial advisers who can support you with:
- Student finance queries
- Budgeting and money management
- Accessing the University Hardship Fund
They can also offer:
- Referrals to other services (such as Careers or the Student Assistance Programme)
- Help accessing all funding you may be entitled to
- Practical tips for managing your money and reducing costs
- Guidance on eligibility for short-term financial support via the hardship fund
Please note: The Money Advice Team cannot provide hardship funding to cover tuition fee payments, but they can offer budgeting advice to help you manage your income and outgoings.
To book an appointment, contact the Student Services Helpdesk via their online enquiry form or call 01244 511550.
Tuition Fee Enquiries
If you are experiencing difficulties paying your tuition fees, your first point of contact should be the University’s Tuition Fees Department at fees@chester.ac.uk. They can discuss your situation and explore potential payment plans.
Please note:
- The CSU Advice Team cannot alter, dispute, or override fee agreements with the University
- Only the Tuition Fees Team can make changes to payment arrangements
You can find more information about paying your fees here:
- International students: https://www.chester.ac.uk/international/fees-scholarships-and-finance/how-to-pay/
- All students: https://www.chester.ac.uk/student-life/fees-and-finance/payment-options/
International Students
If you are an international student struggling with fee payments (even with a payment plan in place), you can also contact UKCISA, an independent charity that supports international students in the UK.
However, you should always contact the University Tuition Fees Team as soon as possible if you are having difficulties.
Important
We kindly ask that students do not book appointments with the CSU Advice Team for financial or tuition fee advice. Instead, please contact:
- The Money Advice Team for financial support and budgeting
- The Tuition Fees Team for fee-related queries
Thank you!
