What a busy first term we’ve had! As this term comes to a close, we’re looking back on a jam-packed first few months at Chester Students’ Union. The numbers really do speak for themselves, and you should all be proud of the difference you make at the University of Chester and the wider community. Let’s look at some of the key stats from term one:

  • 27 new societies
  • 1,630 society members
  • 308 course reps recruited
  • 4,300+ event attendees
  • ÂŁ2.6k given out to support student leader initiatives
  • 4,011 pizza slices given out in Welcome Week

What’s harder to capture through just the numbers is the effort our amazing student leaders have put into their various societies and events, making sure there is a community available for everyone who comes to study at the University of Chester. We now have a total of 85 societies to be a part of, ranging from Wilderness and Remote Medicine Society, to the Pokémon Society, to the IT Geeky Women’s Society – plus a huge bunch of international societies to truly find your home away from home!

Support:

As we wrap up for the break, we want to remind you that support is still available over the festive period through the Student Assistance Programme. Call the helpline for free: 0800 028 3766 to talk through any problems, or use the Live Chat and video call options on the Wisdom app with our code: MHA146072.

Our 24/7 Student Assistance Programme support includes counselling, exploring mental health concerns and also the option to obtain guidance on personal, financial and legal matters. If English isn’t your first language, there’s the option to connect you to an interpreter so you can chat in your preferred language.

We want to ensure our students feel supported over the winter break – to aid with this we have put together a summary of information to help with staying well.

Please remember, if you feel unable to keep yourself, or others, safe then you should attend A&E or telephone the emergency services on 999.

Holiday Hours:

We’ll be closed from 4:30pm on Friday 19th December 2025 until 9am on Monday 5th January 2026.

We hope your break is filled with everything you need, whatever that might look like for you. Take care of yourselves, and we’ll see you in 2026!

Happy Holidays!
