3 students stood next to the river in the sun

Are you passionate about making a difference in your student community? Do you want to have a direct impact on the decisions and initiatives that shape your university experience? If so, Chester Students’ Union (CSU) has an exciting opportunity for you. We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic students to become a Student Trustee.

So, you may be asking yourself what exactly does a Student Trustee do? Well, let’s dive in and answer that for you now.

What is a Student Trustee?

Student Trustees play a crucial role in the governance and decision-making processes of CSU. They are student leaders who serve on the Board of Trustees, which is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and financial stability of the Students’ Union. While the Board includes other elected officers and external members, Student Trustees are the voice of the student body, ensuring that student perspectives are central to the decision-making process.

Why Become a Student Trustee?

  • Influence Positive Change: As a Student Trustee, you’ll have a direct impact on the policies, activities, and services that affect all students at the University of Chester. Your ideas and initiatives can shape the student experience for years to come.
  • Enhance Your Skills: Serving as a Student Trustee offers valuable opportunities for personal and professional development. You’ll gain experience in leadership, strategic planning, and governance, all of which are highly transferable skills for your future career.
  • Network and Collaboration: You’ll work closely with fellow Student Trustees, university staff, and external stakeholders, providing you with a unique chance to network and collaborate with diverse individuals and organisations.
  • Make a Difference: If you’re passionate about improving the student experience, becoming a Student Trustee is one of the most direct ways to make a difference. Your contributions will be recognised and appreciated by your peers.

Who Can Apply?

Any current student at the University of Chester can apply for the Student Trustee position. You don’t need previous experience in student governance—just a willingness to learn, a commitment to representing your peers, and a passion for driving positive change within your student community.
