Have you got an idea of how your student experience could be improved? Perhaps you want to lobby the university to make change? Or maybe you just want to see your favourite snack in the campus shop?
That’s where Big Ideas comes in! Big Ideas is a platform where students can submit their ideas, big or small – like an online suggestion box!
Watch the video explaining Big Ideas!
Once you submit your Big Idea, our Elected Officers will discuss whether they can implement it into CSU’s work, and you might even be invited in to pitch your Big Idea to our Student Council! If approved, you’ll then work with the Democracy & Campaigns Coordinator and the Officers to create a campaign to lobby for change. A campaign could be a Petition, a digital marketing campaign, meetings with University staff to create policy… the sky’s the limit!
There’s no pressure to get involved; you can remain anonymous to other students and you don’t have to pitch your idea to Council if you’d prefer not to – the Democracy & Campaigns Coordinator can speak on your behalf.
Some Big Ideas we’ve approved in the past include:
• Put University printers in Storyhouse
• Bring back the punching bag game to the bar
• Create a Postgraduate space in the library
• Make a Sustainability Officer role in Student Council
And we’re currently working on many more!
You can also ‘like’ other students’ Big Ideas too, to show support. This helps us see what’s popular with the student body! There’s also Petitions which can be signed if you agree with the cause.
