Hi everyone!
I thought it was about time that I properly introduce myself for those of you who don’t already know me: I’m Lily, your elected CSU President for the 2024/2025 academic year! I have just recently graduated (well, I’ll officially graduate in November) from BA Acting.
The past week has been very intense, with me attending lots of training session to prep me for this role. I have been working on developing my manifesto points you’re hopefully all familiar with (don’t worry if not – you will be able to find a copy on our website soon); as a collective of Elected Officers, we are collaborating together to help our ideas become reality! We have started to prioritise items, so all of our aims will be ticked off the list by the end of our term in office! I am still very keen to hear from you all, so if you have ideas/issues or topics you want raising, please email me on SUPresident@chester.ac.uk or come and visit me at the CSU building on Exton Park campus.

I am looking forward to greeting you all back and welcoming our new students this September. It will be great to get to know you all and find out exactly what you want from your student experience and time here at Chester. I’m going to be out and about around all of our campuses, so feel free to grab me and have a chat if you see me!
My time at university has not been an easy one, but it has been so rewarding. I have joined in with extra-curricular activities and events which have shaped my whole university experience for the better. I would always recommendevery students engage and get involved with the many sports and societies we have on offer at Chester. Make sure to pop down to the Sports and Societies fair in Welcome Week to speak with committee members about what is on offer for you as a student. Also, take advantage of the free taster sessions that will run for the first two weeks of term, as it is a great way to not only get a feel for the society, but to meet new friends. I have met some of my best friends by joining in with extra-curricular activities, and it’s also a great way to relax away from academic work in a social setting.

I am so looking forward to this next academic year and all the challenges it will bring. I never once thought my university experience would take me down this path, but I am so excited about the journey me and my fellow Officers are about to go on. If you see any of us out and about, please feel free to speak to us and ask us about what the CSU can do for you as a student.
Throughout the year I will be giving you all regular updates about what I’m getting up to and what you can get involved in. I will always report back on any wins/progress we are making as a union for you, so make sure to keep eye out for them.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon,
Lily x
