January may mean lockdown for all but the start of 2021 also means our CSU Warrington offices are moving! We will no longer be in Padgate Hall and are relocating to the ground floor of Newton Hall just next to Registry – I know, front and centre of campus! This is definitely a timely and encouraging move for CSU Warrington and will hopefully give us the opportunity to see more students to tell them all about the great activities and opportunities we have to offer. We’re hoping a central campus location will make Warrington students more aware of the services we have to offer too, whether that is budget or academic guidance at our advice centre or looking how to become a Student Experience Rep.
For me, I find this move very exciting and a step in the right direction for Warrington Campus. By making the SU office more visible with proper signage this could make students who we aren’t currently reaching, engaged with their Union. I am very excited! The new move also brings an opportunity for a brand new Student Space in CSU Warrington. This will be where the students can relax and meet friends.
After speaking to some students about the move already, it appears it isn’t just me who is excited about the relocation. Jack, a third year student said: “I am really excited to see how the new student space unfolds” and Bethan, who is also a third year student, stated that she was really looking forward to the new student space and getting involved with the SU a lot more.
This a big step for us at Warrington Campus and we can’t wait to welcome students back into the Union and show them their new space as and when it is safe to do so.
In the meantime, stay safe!
Sam Derbyshire, VP Warrington
