Who are you #ProudToBe?

We want to support you to host a range of events and projects to celebrate and promote liberation, equality, diversity, and inclusion. We believe that change in the University should be led by you, the students – so if you’d like to plan a campaign, event or activity, we can support you through our #ProudtoBe fund.

We want to help you celebrate your community! For more information on campaigns, see our Campaigns page.

What has the fund been used for so far?

  • Free pronoun badges
  • Funding an on-campus Pride event
  • Celebrating Holi
  • Cultural sharing events

Do you have an idea?

We’d love to hear your ideas and to have a bigger student presence in organising events and campaigns, so we invite you to apply for funding to make your ideas a reality!

An example of the kinds of things we could help you create are:

  • Cultural and learning events (such as poetry readings, performances or guest speakers)
  • Competitions, displays and exhibitions
  • Community-building projects or those intended to make students feel included
  • Projects designed to celebrate a group (for example, a celebration for Diwali)

Help us improve what we’re already doing

If you have an idea or event you’d like to run as a part of the months below, please fill out the application form and (depending on how long it is before the event, and subject to approval by the team) we will try our very best to work with you to include it.

Examples of campaigns you may be interested in celebrating:

  • Black History Month (October)
  • Disability History Month (November)
  • LGBTQIA+ History Month (February)
  • Asian Culture/History Month (May)

Applications will remain open until 100% of the Proud to Be Fund has been allocated, which is £2000 per year.
