Hi everyone! It’s Lily here and I am back again to give you your round-up of everything your Officer team has been up to this last month.
Elections
March has been very busy here at CSU, especially with elections, so that’s where we shall start. Elections happen every year here at CSU so you can vote for who you want to lead the organisation for the coming year. This year we had an incredible turn out with over 2,200 voters! I'm so happy to share that your next Officer team features 2 familiar faces: both myself and Adedayo have been re-elected as President and VP Education, and then we have Will joining us in July to take on the role as VP Student Life. We are so excited to have him on the team and work on some fantastic projects together. See the full results breakdown on our website.
As part of our role here at CSU, someone needs to hold us accountable. That’s why we have the amazing Student Council - they hold us to account and help support us in our role. A big shout-out should go to everyone involved as these part-time roles are completely voluntary, but they're vital in helping us to capture different student groups' voices. We feed back to them all the changes/projects we are currently working on and give us chance to discuss the direction of work for the remainder of the year. Congratulations to the 9 new part-time Officers elected for next academic year's Student Council.
Student Voice
Work didn’t stop for the Officer team as we were out representing your voice at countless committees; we have many committees that allow us to feedback your concerns to the University directly, but also allow us to capture any up-coming changes happening here at the University that you need to be aware about. Would you like to see a run down of each of the committees so you can see what is happening at the University? Let us know by getting in touch.
I have also been busy recording the Student Experience podcast. This is a monthly podcast hosted by myself and Shaunagh from Student Services where each month we explore a new topic, and this month we explored Ramadam. It was so interesting to learn all about it by speaking directly to students and was very impactful. Check it out now! We have lots of exciting topics to come but if you have any suggestions drops us a message on the CSU Officer Instagram @CSUOFFICERTEAM.
We’ve had lots of planning here in the Office as myself, Summer and Adedayo all get ready to launch some exciting campaigns you can all get involved in, so stay tuned.
Events
March is always know as the month of Varsity here at the University, so another big shout-out must go to all those students who represented Chester at Varsity. It was amazing to visit Salford for the day and get amongst all the action. A big well done to everyone involved!
We held a few low-key Officer events; Summer hosted her St Patrick's Day themed event where students could do some arts and crafts and have a natter, then we had our Lily’s Pad event where we practiced a little bit of mindfulness in this busy term by having a mindfulness colouring sesh. Stayed tuned, as in April we have some fantastic events on including CHESTIVAL on the 30th April 2025!!
In March, we also had graduation ceremonies to attend; it was amazing to be part of everyone’s special day and we even had our very own Adedayo graduate from his Masters degree! He looked rather cool in his suit, would you agree? Myself and Summer also attended a beautiful meal with the senior leaders of the University to celebrate the end of the graduation period, but also to give thanks to Gyles Brandreth who is the University's Chancellor.
So, there’s a quick round-up of some of things we have been up to this month!
See you soon!
